New online pilates class for mams-to-be

Active Northumberland is about to start a new online pilates class to help mums-to-be to exercise from the comfort and safety of their own home.

The classes are designed to help mums feel more confident about the birth of their baby by building strength, stretching out pregnancy aches and pains and helping with relaxation and breathing techniques.

They are part of Active Northumberland’s popular Mams on the Move initiative which aims to help support mams to build low cost activity into their existing routine, at times convenient to them.

The classes will run every Thursday between 6-7pm, starting on 5 November and will be delivered by Rachel Rafiefar, Antenatal Educator and Chair of the Guild of Pregnancy and Postnatal Exercise Teachers.

Active Northumberland Wellbeing Coordinator Jemma Burt explains:
“The run up to the birth of a child can be both exciting and daunting at the best of times. The coronavirus pandemic has meant that many women are feeling isolated as they have not been able to get out and about as much during their pregnancy, or have the usual support network of friends and family to visit.

Our online sessions are fun, friendly and interactive and delivered by a very experienced antenatal educator.

If you are able to join us please do. We’ve a great community of friendly mams-to-be who are all in a similar situation and so they get great strength and support from each other.”

Sessions only £2 each. To book a place and receive your zoom link, email Jemma Burt at: jburt@activenorthumberland.org.uk
